working commission

Ok, I have sooooo much stuff to do. Today our writing class was cancelled so hopefully I can find time to do my writing assignment. The only thing I can think about at the moment is how crazy this semester has been, since school started I haven't really had a day I could just sit around and doodle or draw something for myself. It's been work work work, So I have to keep motivating myself to keep going and stay positive. :-) :-s

Here is a close up

This is my main character for my Thesis, I really want to have this atmoshere

Last class we got a break in our writing for the media class, I was extremely tired from the lack of sleep from the night before. I've been working on my anamatic for my thesis class and also working on side projects for my thesis and also liberal art assignments . This year is very difficult I have sooo much work. One thing I accidentally turned in a few dialogues that weren't due til the 13th of october and I didn't realize it, so I felt dumb and I had stayed up the night before to work on them.

Ok so what I remember from last class is us discussing how people try to give other messages within dialogue. We were to listen in on conversation between people and try to read what they were really trying to say. Everyone does this so it kind of interesting actually looking for it. I guess it's somewhat possible to miss these messages but you probably have to be really air headed but it kind of happens to everyone sometime.

So I have developed a story for my thesis but I feel like I just have bits and pieces, Im confused because I feel like my idea lacks many the the requirements for a good story. For one thing I don't really go in too deep on any of my characters, I do have a main character but I feel like I don't have enough time to develop it within my animation. I could create a character bio which I will but the problem will be actually demonstrating who this character is. I asked questions in my last class because I felt I could develop a full story so I would be satisfied with a section of my story but then how do I go about it. I'll begin by explaining what I have thought of and hopefully I'll develop what I need.

It is set in the futuristic western time in the dessert. It begins with a outside view of a saloon as it slowing begins to move in you see a small boy chasing a small girl run across the screen as it moves closer the scene changes to the inside of the saloon where everyone is drinking and playing cards, my protagonist enters the bar everyone quiets down and watch the protagonist as they sit at the bar, my protagonist looks to a man sitting next the them, he has interesting tatoos, they look around and see wanted posters posted all over the wall, they begin to notice that many of the criminal from the poster are in the very bar finally someone make a move on the protagonist, it begins slow but then a fight breaks out and one by one people begin to attack the protagonist after a few moments a ball bounces in the ball, everyone stops and looks at it, it rolls to reveal a skeleton face then the eye glow and then explodes. we go outside where posters rain down, we follow one that lands at the feet of the children playing outside revealing the protagonist as a criminal also, it ends with the children walking away. and that is all I have I feel like I need for development.

Blog 2:

This past class we basically discussed the true character being revealed once its under pressure and what it is that makes us dive into stories. The Story has to have a message, a change the character went through and it also has to be believable within the world. A good motivation for characters is power, they are after something that will give them some kind of power. We continued the class by making a small story synopsis to demonstrate one of the charts we had learned. I feel like these charts are really helpful for story development, I am currently working on my senior thesis in animation and I think it will help me develop the story.

Ok so I recently became part of a writing workshop class for animation in which I have to write a blog about what we discussed in the previous class for every class.

We were re introduced to the story structure; the message of the story, a change and why the change occurred. I guess a story requires 2 characters a conflict and a resolution. Last class we focused on the character vs characterization. Character being only revealed under pressure, I found this very interesting because I feel that all people tend to hide their insecurities and push false strengths but it's all useless cause once they are placed under pressure they fall apart. Whenever I designed a character I always enjoyed giving them a certain look but a different personality, I always thought of it as mysterious yet the more I think about it I hope I'm not created uninteresting characters, I am entranced by the the Beautiful female character that in actuality kicks ass, heroines. I guess what always lured me was the idea that females are viewed as fragile, weak and so if one were to use these assumption to their advantage they could catch people off guard.
